On September 29th, Habib Dagher, Founding Executive Director at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center (ASCC), visited high schoolers in Portland, Maine to present ‘Unleashing the Future: Innovating for Sustainability’ and inspire young people to seek jobs in Maine’s sustainable engineering workforce. In the Mechanic’s Hall, Habib Dagher met with the ACE (Architecture, Construction, and Engineering) program, and coached the half a dozen high school students on how to build a simple bridge.
Our students are our future workforce. Dagher encouraged the students to pursue their careers in engineering as Maine’s need is for this workforce is critical.
“Maine doesn’t produce enough engineers to do just what we need to do today. So the University has looked at a plan to almost double the number of engineers who graduate over the next five to ten years,” said Dr. Habib Dagher (News Center Maine).
