Registration open for TIDC New England Railroad Symposium
Orono, Maine – The Transportation Infrastructure Durability Center (TIDC) announced that registration is now open for the 2023 New England Railroad Symposium. The virtual event will be held on February 16 starting at 9 a.m. EST.
The symposium is an annual event that brings together researchers and industry professionals on the topic of emerging challenges and solutions in railroad infrastructure. Habib Dagher, ASCC executive director, will open the event with a welcome address. This year’s keynote speaker is David A. Fink, president of Pan Am Group LLC, who helped oversee the recent historic merger of CSX and Pan Am Railways.
The agenda includes three guest speaker and panel discussion sessions that highlight different facets of railroad infrastructure research and operation: National Perspective; TIDC Research in Action; and New England DOT, Owner & Operator Perspective. Panel discussion speakers include representatives from the state DOTs, Amtrak, the Federal Railroad Administration, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, RailTEC, CSX, and researchers from TIDC member universities.

The Transportation Infrastructure Durability Center is the 2018 US DOT Region 1 (New England) University Transportation Center (UTC) located at the University of Maine Advanced Structures and Composites Center. TIDC’s focus is on helping state DOTs extend the life and improve the durability of their transportation assets through the development of new technologies, materials, and structures. TIDC has six member universities within the New England Region.
