Our Moto:

We believe in providing a dynamic environment where students can transcend the confines of traditional classrooms and immerse themselves in hands-on learning experiences. With a focus on collaboration and teamwork, we’ve welcomed students from over 35 academic departments on campus, fostering a diverse and interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving. Our dedication to student development is evident in our internship program, which has provided over 2,700 students with paid opportunities to apply their knowledge in real-world settings. By the time our undergraduates graduate from our lab, they’ve amassed over 2 years of full-time experience, equipping them with invaluable skills and expertise for their future careers. At ASCC, we invest in students today to cultivate the leaders and innovators of tomorrow.

Workforce Opportunities

Student Employment

Undergraduate Students

We typically employ more than 100 undergraduate students per year, offering an experience that provides an interdisciplinary, experiential learning environment. Students must fill out the undergraduate interest form to be considered for employment.

Graduate Students

Graduate students gain hands-on experience and professional training in research ethics, industrial safety, supervision and leadership, equipment operation, and ISO 17025 quality management. We offer graduate, doctoral, and postdoctoral opportunities.

K-12 Student Opportunities

We offer in-classroom and on-campus opportunities for K-12 students. Have you or your school toured our labs? We welcome youth groups of all sizes to join us on campus to gain perspective on the incredible STEM opportunities available at UMaine.

Micro-credentials and Badges

Micro-credentials have recently emerged as a method to certify competency in skills learned outside the traditional classroom environment. The University of Maine System’s micro-credential initiative provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and build employability skills in an authentic work environment. Awarded MC take the form of a digital badge with an embedded link that allows employers to view earning requirements and verify skills.
