Additive manufacturing (AM), commercially called 3 dimensional printing, fabricates materials layer by layer from the bottom-up. Based on plastic extrusion, Fused Layer Modeling (FLM) technology is one of the AM methods to produce thermoplastic materials. However, plastic materials from FLM usually display inferior mechanical properties as a result of their anisotropic structure.
