MASTERPRINT

|The World’s Largest Thermoplastics 3D Printer.

TECHNOLOGY

The Ingersoll MasterPrint, the worlds largest thermoplastics 3D printer, has enabled groundbreaking advances in large-scale additive manufacturing, including 3Dirigo and BioHome3D.

DEVELOPMENT

  • The Ingersoll MasterPrint 3x Printer was commissioned by the ASCC and installed in our lab in 2019.
  • The print-bed dimensions are 60’ (18.3m) long, 22’ (6.7m) wide, and 10’ (3m) high. The printer can print at 500 lbs (227kg)/hour and utilize a 5-axis machine head.
  • The Ingersoll MasterPrint has enabled groundbreaking advances in large-scale additive manufacturing, including 3Dirigo and BioHome3D.

INNOVATION

  • The ASCC’s Ingersoll Masterprint is the world’s largest thermoplastic 3D printer.
  • Using bio-based feedstocks, compared to PLA, the Masterprint printed the world’s first 100% bio-based 3D printed house, BioHome3D, in 2022.
  • The Masterprint printed 3Dirigo, the world’s largest 3D printed boat and world’s largest 3D printed object in 2019. Its print volume is 60 ft wide by 10 ft tall (18.3 m x 3 m), and is expandable to 100 ft (30.5 m) long.
  • The machine can print up to 150 lb (86 kg) per hour and includes an integrated CNC 5-axis machine for subtractive manufacturing methods including cutting, surface finishing, and part geometry finishing.
