Compotech Earns Honor of Top Shop from Composites World
Maine defense technology company named one of twelve facilities worldwide to earn the honor
BREWER, ME – The leading publication in the fiber-reinforced composites manufacturing industry has named a Maine company as a worldwide leader. Compotech, Inc., based in Brewer, earned the honor of Top Shop from Composites World. In addition to being a Top Shop, the 2022 list ranks Compotech, Inc., as one of the top 12 composite manufacturing companies worldwide.
Compotech Inc., is a high-tech defense technology company based in Brewer, Maine. The company’s work includes focusing on transforming the United States Military’s capabilities through innovative blast and ballistic proof hardware, re-deployable shelters, and software solutions. Compotech, Inc.’s work has concentrated on AI and Machine learning, which has made the company a leading defense manufacturing and technology company, earning the trust of the U.S. Department of Defense to develop state-of-the-art protection solutions.

Melrose states in Composites World that the company has a plan to double its revenue this year, and bring on 20 new employees, which will allow them to commission a new production line for developing and supporting its defense technology. “Our use of automation in our manufacturing operations differentiates our company from competitors. For example, we have combated labor shortages through robotic automation capable of performing repetitive tasks like sanding and grinding fiberglass,” said Melrose.
Compotech, Inc. started in 2011 as a spinoff from the Advanced Structures and Composites Center at the University of Maine. The company has grown quickly over a little more than a decade, earning accolades and respect from its customers.
