ASCC Hires Lindemann as Safety and Training Manager

Orono, ME — The Advanced Structures and Composites Center (ASCC) is pleased to announce the recent hire of Ryan Lindemann as safety and training manager working with the Lab Operations Team.

At its core, the ASCC is a working lab, and lab operations and safety are fundamental to the work that we do. Lindemann will oversee all safety at the ASCC, functioning as the manager responsible for all safety programs and protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA and UMaine Safety Management safety regulations, and supervising staff and students in the laboratory on proper equipment handling and safe execution of project-related duties.

“We are thrilled to have Ryan on board to fill the role of Safety and Training Manager,” says Chris Urquhart, safety and laboratory operations manager at the ASCC. “As a UMaine graduate of the Chemical Engineering program, we are eager to apply Ryan’s expertise to our chemical hygiene program in addition to our other safety programs.”

Lindemann comes to the ASCC most recently from Sappi, a renewable resource company with a pulp and paper mill in Skowhegan, Maine. At Sappi, Lindemann first worked as a production supervisor before being promoted to safety professional, where he led the development, management, and implementation of health and safety programs at the local and corporate levels. Lindemann’s previous roles include environmental, health and safety manager at ND Paper in Old Town, Maine, and safety manager at Woodland Pulp in Baileyville, Maine.

In addition to his extensive experience with safety management at a variety of engineering and forest product facilities, Lindemann has completed relevant certifications and trainings from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, OSHA, and several others. He is a member of the University of Maine Pulp and Paper Foundation, and the American Society of Safety Professionals. Lindemann holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maine

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters and keeping up with the Boston sports teams.

The ASCC team is rapidly growing and always looking for talented individuals across all industries to join our team. For more information on open positions, visit the ASCC website or contact Kim Scribner, workforce coordinator, at kimberly.scribner@maine.edu.
