Douglas Gardner featured on Composites Weekly Podcast

Orono, Maine – ASCC researcher Douglas Gardner was recently featured on the Composites Weekly podcast, a news and information podcast designed for the composites and advanced materials industry. Douglas Gardner joined host Jonathan Taylor for an episode titled “Discussing Opportunities and Applications of Cellulose Nanocomposites.”

Cellulose nanofibers (CNF) are the natural structural building blocks of wood. The University of Maine is a world leader in CNF technology; the Process Development Center is one of the world’s top suppliers of CNF, and the ASCC conducts research on sustainable 3D printing feedstocks using cellulose nanocomposites through the Hub and Spoke Program

In this episode, Gardner provides an overview of cellulose nanofiber (CNF) technology: manufacturing processes, strength properties, feedstock options, and the synergies between CNF and materials such as glass or carbon fibers.
