Jonathan Roy is a Structural Thermoplastics Research Engineer who has been working at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center since 2012. A graduate of University of Maine’s Mechanical Engineering Technology degree program, his work is focused on product development.
Jon has a high proficiency in CAD design, 3D print design and fabrication for tooling and prototypes, and experience in Static Structural Finite Element Analysis. He is a Certified Six-Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB), an ABB IRC5 level I programmer for material handling, and a Fortus 900mc Production System level II operator.
He is currently taking graduate courses towards an M.B.A. through the University of Maine, along with other engineering courses of relevance to his work. While Jon currently focuses his efforts in research to assist Dr. Roberto Lopez-Anido and his graduate students, he also manages thermoplastics lab operations, projects, undergraduate student labor, and lab commissioning logistics.
