Bio & Research Interests

I am a Master’s student in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Maine. For my research, I am working with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) to develop structural thermoplastic composite reinforcement and stay-in-place formwork for concrete beams and slabs. I grew up in Old Town, Maine and graduated as the valedictorian of Old Town High School in 2013. From there, I decided to attend the University of Maine, the alma mater of both of my parents. I graduated in 2017 with a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering. I thoroughly enjoyed the structural engineering classes I took and the professors in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Departments. Ultimately, I decided to stay on at the University of Maine to work on a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering and Mechanics. The research being done by two of my professors, Dr. William Davids and Dr. Roberto Lopez-Anido, in the field of structural thermoplastic composite materials is fascinating to me, so we worked out a way for me work with them as a graduate research assistant at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center.
