Serving Industry World-wide
Who do we work with?
The UMaine Composites Center has a highly diverse list of industrial clients on state, national, and international levels – ranging from small, start-up companies to large, Fortune 500 corporations. Our capacity for industrial cooperation has led to more than 500 product development and testing projects, along with leading awards for innovation in the composite materials and civil engineering fields.
Additionally, the Center has participated in the formation of 14 spinoff companies through licensing agreements of patents or trade secrets.
What does it cost?
The cost of projects depends largely on the size and complexity of your project. As a non-profit in Maine, we charge the direct costs required to complete your project.
Total project costs consist of three main categories: labor, materials, and laboratory expenses. Labor rates range from $20-$100/hr, depending on the complexity of the work and the levels of involved employees. In regards to materials, we work with local, regional, and national vendors to acquire parts and materials for the best values. In many cases, we custom build parts required to complete the project. Depending on what software and equipment is needed to complete a project, there may be a lab fee to cover associated costs.
