Environmental Testing Lab
The Environmental Testing Laboratory supports testing of materials under an array of environmental conditions. Specimens can be tested under accelerated regimes of ultraviolet (UV) exposure, condensation, and water spray. They are also routinely subjected to repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
QUV Accelerated Weather Tester
Reproduces the damage caused by sunlight, rain and dew. Programmable cycles of UV exposure, condensation, water spray, thermal shock and irradiance control. Two machines with four bays that are each 12″ x 24″.
ESPEC Chamber: Model ESL 3CA
A temperature and humidity environmental chamber used to subject specimens to environmental conditions. -35 C to 150 C, 10-98% RH.
HVUL Horizontal Vertical Flame Chamber
A benchtop instrument designed to meet large volume chamber requirements of UL 94 with unmatched accuracy, repeatability, and safety. Conforms to all UL 94 horizontal and vertical Bunsen burner tests. Capable of testing specimens up to 24″ long x 24″ wide; used for flammability testing of plastic and composite materials.
Harford Duracool Walk-in Freezer
100 square feet. -30 C to 0 C.
Temperature-controlled immersion of composites in water or other chemical reagents is performed to determine rates of material degradation.
Bally Refrigerated Boxes, Inc. Walk In Environmental Chamber
Small Chamber: 6’W x 8’H x 20’L; -30 C to 70 C; 20% to 80% Relative Humidity (RH); computer interface for monitoring and control.
Large Chamber: 12’W x 8’H x 25’L, -34 C to 70 C, 20% to 95% RH, primarily used to condition specimens at 21 C, 65% RH.
