Paper by Ph.D. Student Jacob Ward Awarded 2nd Place in Student Paper Competition

The New England section of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) announced that a paper by Jacob Ward, a Ph.D. stuSNAME sealdent at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center (the Center), was awarded 2nd place in a student paper competition. The paper, titled, “Design and Numerical Simulation of a Variable-Scale Floating Offshore Model Test Turbine” will be submitted to the national SNAME headquarters for consideration in the national student paper competition. The winner of the national competition will be announced in November, 2018.

Jacob Ward is a graduate research assistant and is studying mechanical engineering for his Ph.D. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maine in 2015, and a M.S.E in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan in 2016.
